Why some NFL fans boo Taylor Swift at Travis Kelces games: the Anti-Hero superstar might be
Given her colossal fan base and global influence, Taylor Swift is pretty much the centre of attention wherever she goes – but that attention isn’t always positive. As Swift puts it aptly in “Shake it Off”: haters gonna hate, hate, hate.
Even supporting her beau – Travis Kelce, world-class NFL player for the Kansas City Chiefs – at his matches is no easy feat. The pop superstar is already a paparazzi magnet as it is and, considering her romance with Kelce is so new, fans can’t seem to get enough of watching her cheer him on from the sidelines. (Well, ahem, the VIP section, of course.)
Sadly though, not all attendees are as pumped to see the singer in love in real time, as hardcore NFL fans believe her presence diverts eyeballs from the game. Other reports suggest that the negativity towards Swift might stem from some NFL fans’ conservative political views, which contrast with Swift’s openly liberal stance. Either way, they haven’t been afraid to speak out about their distaste for the Grammy-winning hitmaker.

Footage shared to X, formerly known as Twitter, shows crowds booing Swift as she appears on the screen at Gillette Stadium in December.
Swifties have been quick to come to her defence, of course – and even some of her fellow celebs have spoken up for her. David Letterman said he is “#teamtaylor” in a recent video posted on Instagram. “It’s good for the footballers, it’s good for Taylor Swift and it’s something positive and happy for the world,” he said.

Kelce has also clapped back at the haters on his New Heights podcast back in December.

“I’ll say this: they showed Taylor at the game. You don’t see an entire home team fan base go insane for somebody wearing the opposite team’s colours. Just shows you how amazing that girl is,” he said.

“There might have been a few Brads and Chads that were booing. But for the most part, everyone was f***ing screaming their tail off for her. And I was trying to keep it cool: I was like, ‘Don’t show your cards, don’t show your cards.’ It was fun, man,” added her smitten beau.

In her interview as Time’s Person of the Year, the “Bad Blood” songstress quipped: “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and p***ing off a few dads, Brads and Chads.”
And can we really blame her? She is there for her boyfriend, after all. Plus, the publicity that the NFL has enjoyed has been priceless – in fact, according to reports, Swift has generated over US$330 million in brand value for the Chiefs and the NFL just for being there.
